modelling a dragon

Hi,

This is going to be my first attempt at modelling an animal of any sort. Picked the dragon because it seemed pretty simple.

I was thinking one way to go about it is to use nurbs spheres to model the body, head and legs. and planes for the wings.
Would that be ok? Or should I use Sub-Ds instead? Or something else?

Is there a tutorial somewhere to help me out with that?

thanks,
~nspiratn.
