Odd collision problem?

Is this possible: I need to know in an expression where two objects have collided but I don't want any reaction to be taken (no bounces, no sliding, no nothing...). So in other words I want to let the objects to pass through each other but at the same time I need the info where and when they have done it... Hope you can understand :p

Hey K, sorry man but I cannot help you with this oneuser added image

I suck with expressions, so Danny Might be the best person to ask regarding thisuser added image

I DID have a brainstorm about a possible idea of assigning collision events to your objects, and just making the actual events NOT occur, (i.e. value/intensity/rate=0 or false), thus giving you the ability to just output the collision data. (?)

...not sure if that will work or not...but...

Sorry manuser added image

Thanks buddy. I already tried something like that but did not succeed... Gonna let this one bake in the back of my head... lemme know if you can come up with something.

Yea, that would be cool. Then you could have collision driven effects. Why do you need the information though. Could you give me some details.

Imagine a boat floating in a rough sea. The sea is a soft-body nurbs plane. The boat is always touching, penetrating and colliding with the sea. My idea was to parent some dummy objects to the boat hull and emit splashes from them when they hit the sea surface. If you use normal collision system, the dummies will not be able to go through the sea surface (according to my tests... i might have done something wrong thoughuser added image). Anyway, this is why I only want to know where and when the dummy has touched the surface and let it go through the surface freely...
