Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character
Save your file first. You can smooth just the hair and it shouldn't afect the weights to much. As for the other edits, do them and thin test your rig. You might need to edit them weights a little more.
Ummm no success, it was a mess and it messed the animation and all i would have to rebind him and set up everything again , i guess ill leave him that way
well the good news is that i finished texturing his face and i made a simple enviroment for this guy to be in, ill post a render very soon
Well here it is, i textured the head and jacket, and made a simple enviroment, here it shows that he may seem harmless but theres more than meets the eye..............
thanks for the good advice, i will try to make the texture more varied
oh yea today i learned how to make displacement maps and create layered shaders with complex transparency and diffuse effects hoooraaay!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Althoug i have a sligth problem with this guy i dont know but when he moves, the texture wraps and messes up it seems like the UV mapping is key'ed in a strange messed up way!!!???
Guys here it is i finished the animation and rendering, it has errors, the animation sucks, well first time ever i animate a character.
It took me a lot a of effort and well i didnt got the really cool final result i wanted, but it was really fun and i learned a couple new things on the way
oh yea i had to change the straigth jacket texture to a very simple one, it looked all messed up i tried mike's advice, it worked but oddly enough the uv's got messed up, and i didnt had time to fix it
well thanks for the comments and advices guys good luck with your challenges i hope you win something
PS: The video is on DivX format it's heavily compressed due to the fact that i dont have a server on where to store it, and i think the max size attachment here is 1 MB so little details i added will be hard to spot
