Definitely looks more plausible.

I'd suggest for the interior sides of the ruined bricks to use something like rock instead of the brick texture. The brick texture implies that the brick was actually made that way instead of broken off.

sorry mike your losing me here with your inner texture idea.

The church I`m basing it off looks the same inside as it does outside the bricks go all the way in.

Very nice work Tweetytunes!user added image May I suggest on the parts where the brick has fallen off that you give it a staggered look. I noticed the brick in the real photos have that feature. Yor brick looks too smooth on those areas.

yer thats why I started the texturing so early because I knew I would need to do that. I plan on adding single bricks in areas and covering other parts with vegation - but not at this stage yet

I stuck on what to do with the ground for this project.

Do I go for total rubble and debris on the ground as if it just happened or do I have it so its been a ruin for a few years and the area has been cleaned up - more like a tourist attraction like Grease `s temple.

Have gotten parts of the roof and some of the pilers done but not uv mapped, textured or rendered.

I would go for a decayed floor, a floor that is partially buried under rubble,ground and grass.
I think if you use a combination of those it will make it more believeable.
Like in the image you posted her that says 2005 bartellonline.com, i would only try to use a bit more contrast than in the picture

Sorry for the delay on the progress, a me and my mate had a car crash.

We are ok, but had a few days in hospital.

Cheers guys

apart from some panel damage the car is fine. The main thing is that it turns out that I have type1 diabetes - which came as shock as I had no idea. (and the main reason for the hospital stay).

I am not letting this stop me from finishing this project - I`m sick of not finishing them

maya is made for those that take up the challenge user added image and just walk on through.., but none-the less, its a big thing to find out. bummer.
