Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Low qualit render, 1 point light and one spotlight with shadow map.
Almost done bump on head (still need lip bump and forehead) and there's a smear on the cheek I have to fix ( I used the clone tool and it didnt work).

Just playing around with lighting (1 point light top left, 1 bluish fill light mid-back right, 1 point light back...low raytrace settings)

Thanks eight ball.

I thought Id post this pic cause it looked kind of strange without pants yet and with the boots on.

I had modelled pants already just out of polys. But Im gonna try using real cloth, so I remodelled the legs shape and attached the boots. I've never use the cloth feature so I hope I can get it to work.

the knees look a bit too rubbery with the bend at the minute. Have a look at the crease behind and at the top of the knee as that might help. The width of the boot at the back looks a little too wide as well.

Other than that, good stuff and the face and skin is looking great user added image

Onto rigging now...discovered its ALOT easier so make use cloth when the legs are SRAIGHT!!!....sooo, Im gonna rig him and make the cloth (besides that the clothe was surprisingly not that hard....make a few curves and sew them).

I have all the basic parts now for rigging, upper body, lower body with boots, and gloves ( giving them a black leather texture...and have to smooth them). Have uvs made so texturing can be all touched up after rigging.

Im trying to post a pic a day, so heres a little render after finishing the upper body...the abs look a bit overly symetrical i found, but the reference I used were like that so Ill just move on.
I also added a few viens in the biceps and forearms...can see them too well with this lighting though.

Im hoping to be done the rigging by tomarrow or the day after if I have time. Than I get to do the fun stuff like posing him and creating some props. Also gonna make a blend couple blend shapes to contol the facial expressions. My goal for now is just to get it done by the deadline...with that Ill be satisfied.

(in the pic the botton and top were split...they have same polycount around the waist and lign up, so I just have to snap the vert...than ready to rig)

Your model is looking good! Are you just importing the high rez OBJ back into Maya from ZBrush? One thing that stuck out to me a bit was that the eyelids looked like they could use some adjustment but you may have already done that since you last posted a close up.

Keep it up, dude! user added image
