Yeah, drumstyk1 contacted me a few days ago and wanted a matrix intro-type thing for a movie he's doing, so I did the best I could. I suppose it's for a movie about some camp called "Camp Tallowood" so that's why "Camp Tallowood comes streaming down instead of "The Matrix" obviously. He managed to take Camtasia Studios and record a matrix screen saver to video. I took that footage, stuck it on a poly plane, then took "Camp Tallowood" and streamed it down keying the incandescence and glow attributes along the way.
Yeah, that's good and all, but then he says he wants it to disolve after it streams down. "Disolve" I say to myself as the gears in my head begin to crank. I didn't know an easy way to it, so I took each face of each letter and made it into a seperate object, then animated the disolving part through a simple mel that randomized their X and Y coordinate. (thanks to kbrown for that I might add) I ended up with 5596 faces in the end which really slowed my system down.
Anyway, there's a bit of info for those of you who care.
Now that I think about it, it can't be uploaded here because it's several megs. It's 216 frames long rendered out in targa, then converted through Videomach to avi, so it's a high file. Too bad.
Hey guys, I thought I should share this here other than anywhere else. Seeing that this is a 3D designing board, a lot of the computers here kick ass. So anyways, here is a program that I currently use all the time that runs streaming matrix code down your screen . It does it really nice, but takes a lot of ram to run.. also you can tell it to overlap ontop of your background so that you see green letters only poppin overtop of images.. its great! I have an attatched image of what my settings are right now. Beware though, im running on 1.5 gigs of DDR ram and 8x agp video card. I dont really know the stats for it. Heres the site.
