Thanks guys user added image. Heres a fully smoothed version of what i have so far. Can anyone explain how to do DOF through the maya renderer? Is it hard? C&C welcome!

Nice shape to that head- only minor crit would be the edges you can see round the eye sockets and nostrils- perhaps a little more smoothing?. The lower jaw might be a little wider to accommodate those hefty teeth (I like those teeth a lot!). Has a sort of sabre toothed look - nice. The shoulders have real bulk to them and give an impression of strength- nice stuff, will they have a tad more definition at the top?

Don't know anything about DOF I am afraid but thanks for the tip on how you did the shader, I really like that look and just did it with a carrot!

Overall looking great.

DOP quick explaination:

go to the viewport you wish to render from.

Go to the top menu item Display>Heads up display> and check 'Object details'. This will list, among other things the distance of the object from the camera.

Go to the window menu and pick View>Select camera then cntrl A to get the Attribute editor. Scroll down to Depth of Field and check the selection box.

Play with the attributes until you get a satisfactory result user added image

The first part should take 2 seconds. The second part is the creative bit and it may take a very long time to get something that looks like you imagine it. It does for me anyway.

Nice work on the character user added image

Ah thanks guys, and thankyou ereitz for the explanation! I will be trying this out on my model once its finished.. for the final renders user added image.

witchy, thanks for the CC! yep, the shoulders do need more work, the jaw could be wider and your right about the nostrils.. i will just do a simple poly split user added image. You should be able to point off the differences slightly in my next renders, as i will be fixing them as soon as i start maya today.

YOu picked up on that hey? Doesnt suprise me. Well, now that you have brought it to EVERYONES ATTENTION i guess i have to fix it eh?

LOL, im just kiddin with ya buddy. I actually realised that i just plunked it there.. but i didnt find any good images that showed how the lower jaw attatches. I will keep looking though and hopefully have that fixed by the next update user added image.

Witchy, no.. i love C+C.. its what pushes my model to extremes user added image.. without you guys my model would be no more than a standard cylinder, that has been morphed.

Pony, thanks man user added image.. you should definately enter this challenge if you get the time! I remember your centuar and that was amazing, also your hell entry user added image.
