val u dont rekon you could post like what the purpose of the spec, diffuse and AO map are cos atm i only dont modelling n texture basics. What does AO stand for aswell?
Thanks
josh
jhubbard: i do it that way because mental ray can render multiple passes at once [using ctrl_buffer shader then i comped the passes in photoshop. which gives better control over final image output and saves tons of render time, this rendered in less than a 2 minutes
good work vlad
the scales look a little glossy or something - like he's been for a swim and has nearly dried off but not quite. I've seen pics of these groovy lizards and quite often they look a little dusty which might help.
The shadow on the mouth also looks a little too sharp and gives it that 3D'ed look.
Other than that its great to watch how you build up the model - especially with all the different passes which are still voodoo to me
Originally posted by mc-fleury i would like to know why you made a diffuse map and what is it used for?and why you spec map is so low value?
the diffuse map is like an ambient pass, not ambient occlusion [dont quote me]
so i layer it on top of the color map, it makes the dark areas darker and the light areas lighter.
the spec is so low because i can easily adjust it in photoshop then layer it on top of the color map. thats why i rendered seperate passes.
