Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Here's the back light bar. Haven't added the license plate texture yet.

Here's the paint scheme. It's the 1999 stock candy apple red and beige color. The other choice was dark blue and pearl white, which is nice also, but I like the red.

THX, the blue paint I had on before was just a standard blue metal flake (kinda flashy chopper style), but the real Yamaha bike doesn't use a metal flake paint. It's a two tone paint scheme like I have above with either red with beige highlights, or dark blue with white highlights. Here's a pic of the real bike with the blue and pearl white paint.

Finished the license plate. Gonna mess with the bump settings a little, but other than that it works.

Awsome, the blue and pearl on the real deal looks even better than the blue metal flake you had. Why not do 2 versions? One with the red and beige, and one with the blue and pearl white. License plate looks great. The chrome looks great also. The HDRI you are using was a nice choice. I finially found a HDRI that will work with my projector model, and I did some High Quality test renders with it, and the results came out better than what I expected on what little I have modeled.

your texturing is top notch. This is the one im rooting for with mayafreak in a close second.

The only thing I see is that I think that your license plate is inside out. The letters and stickers should protrude from the plate not be recessed. I think that your dis. map is reversed. Might want to check that out. And look at the depth of dis. as well. They only protrude so much, which is actually very little.

Cant wait to see this finished.

Way to go so far.

Keep it coming...user added image

Thanx for the comments.

I do have to mess with the license plate bump map, it's a little off right now. It's the standard Colorado license plate from where I'm at, and it is kinda ugly I agree, but ugly can look real too.

I have the shaders set up so that it's real easy to switch between the blue and the red paint job, so I'll run tests with both and see what everyone likes best.

so do the license plates there in colorado really recess within the plate?

Ive lived in 4 states and each plate's letters and numbers pop out instead of sit in.

Another give away of this is where the highlights hit. Also your stickers should be almost flat and maybe a little extruded.

Just try reversing your bump and see how that looks.

Just some CC.

I will shut up now.user added image

Fixed the license plate (thanks for the heads up papalatistudios). only have the handgrips to finish texturing, and then I'm done and can do a final render. Probably this weekend as it'll take about 12 hours or so to render.

I'll probably do a blue paint render also for a comparison.
