Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

YEAH!!!!! I've been going through some serious withdrawls from SM! user added image

Thanks guys!
Vijay2004 - What do you mean bevel them? where? Must make it cooler! user added image
Cyrius - I made a poly cylinder and extruded it all around in the shape I wanted and then made the "wing" part with a cube shaped up! Then I smooth binded it to a skeleton so it moves really organic vs. the rest of him being mechanical! Creates a cool unique Gundam I think.

And Thanks to everyone for the comments! Here's a pic of him 100% done and posed! user added image L8 Mates!

Thanks for the coments on my model. Yours is really looking good. I love the wings. The Feet, and the panels over the sides of the hips and sholders are great.

The double-bladed laser sword killing thing is wonderfull.

How about modeling "large" (no kitchen tiles) tiles for the runway/area? That will improve the sense of space I think.

Go to Edit Ploygons> Bevel Option Box. then put the offset to 0 and roundness to .3 and check world space, then apply. The object will look broken so now use smooth. user added image (Click the object first before you bevel and smooth them)

Undseth you mean make the runway area with more squares (not kitchen like) but big square blocks? Just want to confirm what you mean.

And Vijay I'll check the bevel thing out!

The concrete pad would have a lot of um lines in it were they
were formed to give room for expantion. The runway; instead of tiling it maybe you could put the lines on it like airport runways. That would be good for depth perception.

There was two radio towers or something, three pic's back maybe you could use some tubes instead of the square stuff. Would look nice like that. But then again I'm not sure if that went along with what your after with the base..

I love the idea though. Maybe it could be an Arab air base ? You could put some older simpler jets there

I see that you have textured the runway Wicket.

I was thinking of modeling the pieces for a crisper rendering. The tiles being square, and laid out in a grid fashion.

But I must admit, I'm not quite sure if military runways sometimes are made this way.
