Learned a big lesson tonight. ALWAYS check your tesselation for EVERY object in your scene. I was wondering why I was having so much trouble rendering large chunks of the model, until I did a spread sheet search on the tesselation and found 4 tiny spheres I had used for a part of the engine which were tesselating at 1,000,000 triangles a piece !! Suffice to say, once I corrected that huge error I was able to render a larger piece at once, and it only took 1 hour 20 mins. I still can't squeeze out the whole scene due to the diplacement maps on the tires, but at least now it'll work with just 2 render layers. So here's two new pics. Comments are welcome, but I'm running out of time so I won't be able to make any major changes.
I actually saw one today as I was waiting for the light
to turn green there was someone from Colorado right
in front of me. And you are so right...IT IS UGLY!!
The only thing that is wrong with it is that it is still popping out
too much. Stickers are almost completely flat, extremely thin you are almost there.
The overall thickness of the plate is a little too much as well. Check out the plate on your car. It should be very thin easy to bend. And now compare that to the one you have here. Yours appears to be made of plastic from the thickness.
Plates are pretty flat the only thing that pops out from them is the relief of the numbers and the art in some cases, like the mountains in colorado's plate.
As far as your texture for it. Did you paint it? Because it doesnt look like the one I saw today...yours kinda looks cartoonish, maybe too clean looking. Might want to think about taking a picture of one and working with that as a main texture file.
As you said earlier "dirty can be more realistic" and I definitley think that this is the case here. Otherwise I would say you are good to go.
Im only saying this stuff about the plate because I would hate to have that be the one thing to stand out when the whole bike looks awesome and realistic.
Hope this makes sense...its really late im going to sleep
Good Luck in the finals...:attn: :attn:
