This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

i made some test with fur and i saw that maya software make the fur look a lot more realistic than mental ray.am i right?

maya software,you can see its much better.but with maya software,the render wont look that real..or less than with mental ray.is there a way to improve the look of the fur rendered with mental ray.

try upping the antialiasing in the MentalRay render user added image thats should do it

I think its your samples....
open up the fur description in the attribute editor and go to the fur shape node under mental ray settings there is a min max samples.. its prolly at something like min 1 max 2... up the max samples to 3 or 4 and see what happens.. I bet it fixes it.

the method work fine but it takes a lot of time to render.i took about 2:24 to render stg nice but its still a littler worst than what maya software render.

looking very good!

to increase the quality with MR try also
* change the Fileer in Multi-pixel Filtering to Mitchell or Lanczos
* lowering the Constrast Threshold to like 0.05 or 0.01

and of course if you use FG you have to have pretty good settings there too.
