This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

u could try using a square volume emmiter and attach it to the base of the door, and use cloud particles. Just make sure you have them collide with the door/floor.

have u used a volume emmiter? if not play with one , just go into the stributes and select type>volume> , square/rectangle . sorry i dont have maya in front of me till tomorow.
Then ajust the height so its real narow then elongate it to fit the base of your door and parent it. Then play with the particle settings till you have one you like.

"make them collide with everything" - Select the particles and the object to collide with then Dynamics menu>> Particles >> make collide (tweak the settings until happy).

see them when i render >> Make sure they have a shading group assigned and make sure you use the software render to render them (If you are using the software rendertypes (cloud, tube, blobby)).

make it go with the door when it opens? - key the emission rate to conincide with the door opening.

here is a quick sample.
Just key fram the particle rate from open to stop motion of the door or whatever the need you have. use a the cloud texture and adjust from their.
I used radiusPP to creat an expression to increase the particle size as they flowed then added a life span.
