Quick curve extrude question

I have a curve for a window casing in the shape of a square pyramid (going up a level then over and up and over...). When I select the curve window and the curve casing and extrude, all i get are horns. After messing with profile normal and all the options i can get it to a square shape, but because it came out looking like a horn there is a corner missing to complete the square. I've been at this for 2 hours now watching the same dvd over and over again please help.

I would take what you have in the first pic, cut it in half, delete the incomplete half, duplicate the half that does look good, mirror it, and attach back to the original to make the whole.

Alright cool thanks, but any idea why I'm getting these horns and not complete rectangles? Anything to do with the pivot points or anything because their's is almost a perfect rectangle after doing profile normal?

Anyone? I would really like to be able to do it the right way and not have to dupe and mirror everytime i want to extrude with a curve.

The curve you're using isn't closed at the corner most likely. It's probably easiest to mirror it, really. Takes a half second once you know how. user added image
