Mental Ray Render Error

When trying to render a specific scene using mental ray (and only with mental ray), I get this error: "Error: (Mayatomr.Geometry) : LeftHandShape, non-quadrilateral face in subdivision surface base mesh not supported, ignored."

The rendering process does not stop, but it only renders a black screen (blank).

Could someone please explain to me what this error means and how I would go about fixing it?

Thank you.

I believe it is because Mental Ray does not support subd's. Try this...put a nurb and a poly object next to the subd, some lights, and render...

MR supports subDs, they just need to be all quads to be renderable

When you say this, you mean that all faces have to be 4 sided?

So I would have to go through and make sure all the faces have 4 sides on my object?
