deleting history (partially)?

hi
anyone know if there is a way to delete History for everything except 1 node (Blend shape) which is in the middle of the History / stack?

try this. select your geometry. go to the hypershade bottom window. click graph>input output connections. the history nodes will be names tweak1, tweak2... and the blenshape nodes will be called blendShape1 or whatever name that you might have given them while creating blendshape.
just select all the history nodes (being careful not to select any blendshape nodes) and delete.
i think this should solve your problem.

hi

that's deleting the effect of the nodes as well. I want to collapse the history stack but keep the effects...

is that even possible?

I mean, deleting prior steps might be possible (say, as if you'd deleted them in the ongoing process), but doesn't maya need the later history for heirarchical effects? (so, you'd still have history after the blendshape). I'd like to know the answer here as well.

you can do it in 3ds max. no idea about maya - would really like to know. should be quite a simple thing to do considering you can delete History anyway - so just keep half of it - shouldn't be a problem right?....

there must be a button somewhere I'm overlooking user added image...

If you are on Maya 6 or 7, you can try the DELETE NON-SKIN HISTORY. I think that'll keep the blend shapes. I use it sometimes but I never tested it on "Blendshapes". It's under EDIT SMOOTHSKIN>DELETE NON-SKIN HISTORY
