Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

I've go the horn...done

Not sure if I'm going to model the protruding edges on the brass horn or use bump mapping. What do you reckon?

You might be able to tighten up the edges of it. It looks a bit "bubbly" at the moment, compared to the photo, ya know?

I see what you're saying. I actually extruded the horn a bit to give ti some depth. Perhaps the way to go is to reduce it or have no depth at all.

Thanks,

Forlax.

I completely restarted the horn. Extruding it didn't look right.

So here it is again with wider petals and 'flatter' at the edges. It's currently NURBS, but will converto top poly shortly.

It's still not finished. Still needs a bit of tweaking and have to put the protruding edges yet.
