Snow Texturing

Hey,

How would I create a realistic looking snow texture? would bump map be the best way forward? The snow needs to look quite deep, like it would be found in the mountains.

Thanks in advance

Steve

can't believe no one replied to this:

I was just in Austria skiing and I was on the chairlift I was thinking about snow texturing too (sad I know but shows how much of a cg nerd I am! user added image) anyhoo the best thing will be to model the depth of the snow that you want and then yes use a high frequency bump map and same for the spec map(procedural ones will be fine) and depending on your sunlight options you'll need to add in some sharp shadows etc

let me know how you get on
