render problems

can anyone suggest how I fix these black render problem spots on my model ?

I've tried to merge vertices, smooth normals, subdive etc...

Im pretty sure its a problem with your verticies and subdivides, if you tweak the head verticies by pulling or pushing they should disappear when you have them in the right spot.

Im not really an organic modeller but will hopefully help.

Cheers

those polys have about 13-15 sides. this is very very bad. Work with 4 sided polys and make tiny exceptions for 3 and 5 sided, but 99% of faces should be 4 sided

thanks every1, turned out to be unmerged vertices...

(previously i was checking for unmerged vertices by selecting points, but now I check by selecting vertices...which makes it easier)

having a lower poly side count helped as well I think...
