half of the glass is done, now what?

i've finished half of a model of an eye glass but i can't seem to figure how to mirro the other. i tried duplicating with scale of -1 0 0 but what comes out is a flat glass not 3d!! i also tried mirroring but it merges the vertices. if i did something wrong, pls crit i need to fisnish this lol.

try grouping that half
now move the centre pivot to 0,0,0 so or to the inside edge of model depening where it is in the scene
to move pivot pusk W then 'insert' and move the pivot into position
x snaps to grid

hit dup look at the compas in the bottom left an look fo the direction it needs mirroring to now in channel box for this direction put -1


Now at SMU doing BSc 3D Computer Animation so its hard to get on here
