roman columns

I'm trying to make a roman column in Maya for a personal project.

I've no clue where to start?

Can anyone help, or even send me a model?

I can't remember exactly but doesn't the poly modeling training in the help files go over something similar.

Try checking that out, if not extrude every other faceround the side of a cylinder outwards to get a ridged effect, and do a few extrudes off a cube to get the bottom.

Hope this helps.

There are a couple of free video tuts for modeling a Roman column in modo but I'm sure you can apply the same modeling methods to maya:

Column Pt. I
Column Pt. II

Shouldent be too hard.

You could either model it all as one from a cube, or use sepperate objects (cube, cylinder, cube) adjusting them as you go along.

Use the extrude command for this .
start with two squares above each other then duplicate it for a 3th time and then reshape it as the profile you need duplicate this a couple of times and so on then extrude them
