Nvidia 9600M GT failing in Maya

Hi guys...well I updated my driver as Maya kept crashing...now I was trying some normal maps and wanted to use high quality render in my viewport...never been a problem EVER...now all I get is this

// Warning: High Quality Rendering mode is not supported by the graphics card. Switching to default rendering mode //

which is utter bulldust...WTF???

Im running the latest driver for this card

cheers Ant

Revert to an older version of the nvidia driver a lot of people seem to be having problems with the latest one. Same with the latest ATI driver as well.

Must be something in the water.

Yep very true, I've gone back to 270.51 for my Quadro 4000. Later ones buggy as hell.

David...did a retro driver (about 2 versions back)...it did nothing...high quality render will not work??? Any more ideas mate? I have gone into Nvidia settings and applied Maya as a program to the damn thing as well....nothing.

And it was working before with older drivers? That seems very odd to me. 2 versions might not be enough. That card is quite old, and embedded, so I'm quite surprised it worked at all. Which version of Maya are you running? If it's 2011/2012, are you sure you're not using Viewport 2.0? Go into the option box of the high quality viewport, and play with the settings there.

In the Nvidia control panel, everything should be set to "Application preference"

Hi ND,

yeh Im running 2009...with Nvidia 9600M GT...updated...then retro drivers...nothing has worked...it DID work before....I know it did as I have used it. Now it tells me the card is unsupported...I have un installed and re-installed Maya as well...still nothing. Im going back another couple of version ND...this has me completely and utterly stumped!

cheers bullet

P.S ND I ahve looked at autodesk documents and it seems supported
