Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Reflect laser beams

Hello,
I am trying to create a laser beam effect that mimics a real world laser projector. There is a beam and two mirrors, for x and y control. By tilting the mirrors the beam can be used to draw pictures.

My first problem is I am using a narrow spotlight for the beam. It kinda works but a straight beam would be WAY better. I am going to try experimenting with passing the spotlight through a lens to straighten it.

My next problem is I can't get any reflections to show up in the fog or to illuminate other objects.

Any suggestions/ideas would be very helpful at this stage. I will post some renderings once I get a little further into this project.

Thanks,
Alex
