Lock attribute editor to node

I was wondering, is there a way to lock the attribute editor to a node so that whilst you are working on a scene you can remain focused on one particular node, instead of it changing every time you click on something.

Yep. At the top of the attribute editor, hit "List" and uncheck "Auto Load Selected Attributes". Now it'll only update when you double click a node in some kind of editor(outliner, hypershade etc)
