Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

Create a Tranluscent Texture for a Cell

I'm doing a project that requires some translucency. An example of what I want to achieve can be found here:

https://bioartmedia.com/artwork/68722...n_Stelter.html

I'm pretty sure this was done in 3ds max, but I'd like to know if anyone knows how to do this in Maya.

What I want to do is emulate a similar translucence material like is seen in the first 30 seconds. It has a core that is pretty solid in the center, and then gets more transparent as is reaches the edges of the form.

I've tried messing with the translucence and transparency nodes in the lambert shader, but can't seem to achieve the same effect. I was told to connect a ramp to these nodes, but I've tried that and I don't get the effect you see in this video.

Any suggestions?

Thanks so much.
