Pole Vector Problems

Hey Guys

Just rigging the arms of a simple block man, ive set up the IK handles as requires (from the shoulder to the wrist) and i'm now setting up pole vestcors located at the eblows using a cortrol curve, the problem is when I select the curve (that is aligned with the elbow joing but moved slightly back) and the the IK handle at the wrist and do a pole vector constraint, my joints jump out of place slightly, anyone know whats causing it and how to get round this??

Cheers

Hmm, not come across this as yet but, have you a) 'set preferred angles' on the elbow joint? and B) frozen transformation on the curve?

I'll give this some thought if this doesnt work, unless someone else knows....

Cheers Jay, I've not set the prefered angle, so thats probably it, the tutorials that ive been following didnt say to do it, either of them.. One of thems a Jason Schifler one it Maya the complete reference and the others a digital tutors DVD.

I'll give it a go tonight.

Cheers

What you will need to do is disable the ik handle first (Evaluate nodes under the modify menu), rotate the arm to say 75 degrees, set preferred angle, then rotate the arm back to its original position then enable the IK again(Evaluate nodes under the modify menu again) Then do your PVC constraint again...
