Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character
Thought I would do some thing different for me, looking at lighting not my strong point. I do know theres a seam or two on the wood texture.............dave
strictly talking about the lighting...
it look better in the second image. there was a massive area that was over exposed in the first.
its always a good thing to block out lighting with a nice grey shader. So i would suggest you go back and try getting a nice light rig with some diffuse shaders.
Thanks Dom
Done a little as you suggested not sure if I getting there as I have changed the wallpaper and the table texture, the grapes will look a little grainy as I turned the sampling level down to get quicker renders.............dave
Yes and thanks Bullet it is a little dark, there are 3 lights at the moment lighting this part of the scene. I am trying for that morning look...........dave
why don't you change the camera to get a more interesting shot/composition? try changing the focal length and framing. When you are happy, lock the camera and just keep rendering from the same place. That way you will have a better idea of where you need more light or less light.
I would suggest that doing scattering or anything like that on the grapes or rendering you glass is a waste of time. you said yourself you need to drop the samples to get quicker renders. well, a few renders with no materials will be a very quick way to test your lights and camera angle.
Thanks Dom
Yes I was thinking of locking the camera but was not happy yet with the compostion, done a little light linking as the was to much light going on the window wall and the light coming through the window now goes through the picture plane at the back. Still lacking some thing in the compostion may be curtains? some thing to allow a little more light in............dave
Edit:A bit to dark added another light set at .1 just to lighten the back wall
