Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Another update. Added some (lot's of) details to the arc
now I'm going to redo the doors. I'm not going to do
what I thought of earlier, I've found a vary nice cathedral
door picture I'm going to use as reference and I'm
actualy going to model it, without displacment maps.

The doors are finished. I think it's the most complex
NURBS object I've ever done user added image. By the time I finished
it I used almost every tool availible for NURBS. I guess
by making those doors I've learned much more than from
entire project so far user added image

OMG A truely funny thing happend today. I was working
on the project and my mom came in, she looked at it,
and said that she passes by a very similiar arc
everday on her way to work in Jafa. I think tomorrow
I'm going to Jafa to see what is she talking about,
but thats truely weird coincedence 'couse the entire
arc structure was "invented" by me while working on it.

And about the project it self. Now I'm adding more
details and then I'm gonna redo the window
section.

Update on the door area, remade the half
circle above the door added some small details.
Nothing much but looks better.
What do you think should I add more details or get
some new area created?

Well I took some time to kinda scetch the entire building
structure. I guess it's even less then a scetch but works
for me as an overall reference. Offcourse there is a huge
amount of details to be added so it will look like a
cathedral and not like a lego castle user added image Most of the
details do repeat them self so I'll have to actually model
only one copy of each. I really hope I'll finish it on time.
There is much work to do.

Great work aZriel - this is looking just awesome - really like some of the detail that you have going on and it's good to see the rest of the cathedral sketched in - keep at it mate!

Thanks for all the comments.

I've created all the basic shapes for the next area
I'm gonna work on (there is some small detail work
done but it really not enough).
Any way becouse of the size of this thing I'm not going
to spend so much time on the details as I did with the
arc, wich I've totaly over detailed :headbang: . Now I'm thinking of
removing some of them to improve my main scene
perfomance (I'm working in diffrent files on each area
then importing it to the main scene) after all it would
be imposible to see them in the final render (unless I
do it 100000 x 100000 pixels )

Still working on details (no screens yet)
but now I'm not really sure I'll have time to finish it.
I got a job so I can pay for maya courses starting
at september. It's a quite night job so I can do
almost what ever I want. But I don't have a laptop.
But I'll really try and do some work on my free time.
Too bad I joined so late...
Any way I'll finish this cathedral even if it won't be
challenge entery.

ya do still have a month, and it looks like the hardest part has been taken care of already.

if the geometry becomes too complex you can always create a makeshift entryway so you can see the whole thing, and put the detailed doors on another layer that's hidden... and you could render out to layers too for speed.
