and the raytraced shadow version (I really like the way the wheels look in this one so I will probably try and recreate this using non raytraced rendering.

thanks, it's a really hard pic to light to because it's wet and at dusk so reflections and all that stuff are hard to get right. I'll post some more stuff once I get a bit more done.

Looks fantastic. I agree on the comp though. I think the roadwheels have a thin solid rubber 'tire', but I may be mistaken. Tanks are usually pretty non-reflective for obvious reasons so I think the one without raytracing looks superior to the one with. Nice work on the textures and materials. It looks like a peacetime tank, very well looked after but not too clean.

heeey,.. that is COOL!!!!
i think you gotta follow the lights there.... hehe.. make it durker or something.. so it's just like the other cars... so it doesn't stand out much.... but when you look at it closer... you get amazed.. that there is actually a tank on the road....
overall,... the modelling is GREAT!!!!!

thanks user added image I am running out the files again and re-comping them at home. It takes a night to render each pass so i will have the final comp on monday I think. It's looking much better now, I think that the comp I posted doesnt even have the shadow pass in it.... oops user added image but now it's been colour corrected and looks cool.

well it was all done on a single layer jpg in photoshop, so i thought it wasn't bad. and yah you did miss the shadow, but i didn't = )

Anyway, let us know if u are interested in any help with the comping, izzy knows his sh!t and would be happy to teach you about "black/white point balance" or whatever its called.

more updates, ok so I've started on a new scene, the other one was proving to be a real headache. I've attached the final comp of that one (i cant be boethered to fix all the problems with it so it's staying as is). The new scene should be a lot easier to do.

and here is the pic of the new scene as it stands at the moment. I'm working on a slightly new camera track and I am also trying to get the reflections all sorted out. They're proving to be a bit more of a pain that I envisaged but I'll try to sort that out this weekend.

Would be cool with some camera shaking as the tank rumbles past and some motion in the 'live action' footage user added image. The new comp looks better, the scene looks almost cg-ish though, cant point out why.

Now that bjiorn mentions it, it does kinda look a lil off. Wierd.

Anyway, as far as adding life to you're BG Plate, i would comp in either an airplane or birds in the far distance. Oh and i would suggest trying to add in the reflection of the tank in that window all the way on the left side of the screen. You could probably do it all in after effects or premier with the original render by flipping, skewing and then reducing the transparency on the layer.
