This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with
complex objects.
That's why i gave it to hybrid to texture. He likes taking his time with that sort of thing. I guess i could always find some tuts for it but its so hard finding good tuts with the magic price of free... Plus i prefer text tuts to videos. I have a hearing problem and my girlfriend gets a little annoyed when i blast some british guys voice from the computer....
If anyone knows of some nice texture tuts that would be great.

haha bullet texturing is easy for those artistically gifted individuals . its like watching kurt boutiler's (spg??) tuts, where is dabbing bits of blue, then some red, then some yellow, all to make some awesome texture for a spitfire or a face, i don't have that kind of intuition or patience, haha, but im with TD i love modelling, i just hate that my models never look amazing because i suck at texturing
the more I Think I know about Maya the less I seem to know about it.
LOL Im not a texturers bumhole guys LOL...but I give it a go. I just experiment etc...I kinda do what Kurt does...start off with light base colours and build from there. Bit o noise..motion blur etc etc...Thats why I tried my first procedural on an apple model...didnt turn out as good as Genny's but I tried...same with PS...just sorta let your imagination do the work..try this..try that etc. Good fun too....TD I usually look for tuts on metal textures and stuff like like...as you get to use the tools in PS.

aye man i followed your procedural thread you made a good effort, i guess my problem is i cant be arsed spending the time, because it does amount to fiddling for hours making small changes for an overall better result, but its still hours for sometimes no noticeable difference. i think the proper term is laziness
the more I Think I know about Maya the less I seem to know about it.
ohh i like , im lazy in the sense that i could never go into as much detail kurt when building textures but im always keen on trying different maya shaders and effects will try the car paint ones for sure though i think i have a decent method as it is, thanks to Maya Tutorial: Rendering Shiny Things part 1 - YouTube and fresnel reflection lol
Wow that was an amazing reel. Looks like it could have been a preview for some sort of summer blockbuster movie... (and for the record i would totally go see it)
I hope someday i could even get close to that level of detail and skill. Maybe i should try some more complicated scenes and try and get out of my comfort zone a little. Maybe try another challenge or something.
