Its pretty obvious that the interface in diffrent in maya 7 as opposed to maya 6.5. But i was doing this tutorial and it said to creat a dgs material and a dielectric material. when I look through the menus, I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know either where to find it or the maya7 equivelant(sp?)?

its in the mental ray options in the material list.

you have to go to preferneces - plugin manager- and enable the mental ray one

every maya (even pirated, i think (i wouldnt know)) has Mental RAy, its built in, you cant get the program without it

I activated every single plugin and none of them were mental ray

edit ure post.... the simplymaya team really dont like the pirated word mentioned in here.

Also heres the plugin i circled the one u need on.

all of the materials seem to be just gone:

all of the mental ray materials are the same way:

hmm that is weird. but u can select mental ray as ure render ?

try this. 2
right click where i have circled and select "Create mental ray nodes."
and go down to photonic materials when the new menu appears.
