Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

Thanks! BTW yours is looking great user added image
I should probably explain my concept
the 'giant phanteaters' look like giant anteaters (the species) but are also giant. so there basically giant giant anteaters but they eat elephants, so there giant phanteaters. Good look understanding that last sentence :eek3:
I intend to complete this sooner rather thane later because I have exams soon

im experimenting with glowing lights and ive connected the outcolour of a ramp to the outglow of a surface shader but how do I change the intensity of the glow without affecting the colour (I need it to glow A LOT less but i still want a nice bright, rich colour)

Cool Idea, you've got to add some strigns to it and do an animation!

I was actually thinking of animating it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hieUIn7F7Qo
I animated the lights anyway, just for fun
as you can see I need to find a way to tone down the glow

what do you mean by strings? details?

I was thinking of making a whole teaser trailer for this hypothetical movie (not part of the compo though)

Whats the link to the withdrawn PLE for?

No I mean actual strings, say like really crappy B movies you could see the strings that were on the model to meve it about.

underside

Do you think I should add more detail, or do you think it will take away from the B movie effect?

the spaceships not finished yet but I was bored https://theattackofthegiantphanteaters.110mb.com/

Does anyone have a solution to my glow problem?

the last picture didn't show up for some reason...

glow is a post effect in maya isn't it? can't you just change the glow intensity?

are you going to model a phanteater after your exams? user added image

that's a "Ch" pronounced as a "K"

Ramps dont seem to have a glow thing so attached the outcolour to the outglow of a surfaceshader but there doents seem to be a way to change the intensity (I tried it a different way but then the whole thing glowed instead of just the coloured bits. I guess ill look for other ways (maybe try incandescence)

I may model a phanteater, I havent really though about it that much, im not really sure how I could make it look alien when its just a giant giant anteater

I may turn my final image into a typical B movie poster (if anyone knows where I can find some good examples of B movie posters please post a link)
Ive decided to give the strings a go (do you think I should add strings to the planets as well?)

any other suggestions to make it look better/worse (for the B movie effect)
