Hi Guys,

here is the final clip I handed in for my finals. It's most definitely not the end of the road. I intend to refine it.

Considering the schedule and the requirement of learning Maya, I was pleased with the way it turned out.

Thanks to all who helped make my semester an enjoyable experience and for the help with the long list of questions.

The final project was handed in on DVD - this one is compressed for the web, hence the pixelation.

Final Movie - Train Ride - AVT 382. (7MB)

Hi, looks good. I like the idea to. since your planing on still working with it though.. I was thinking maybe you could do a little with the sign. I meen the idea is for it to be just swaying in the wind but when the train gose buy it gose crazy right ? first thing I noticed is it seems to start reacting to the train a bit to soon.

Yeah, I see what you mean.

I would also like to add some wind blown dust, papers and stuff - as the train passes the station - any ideas??

Wow, what a great piece. I agree with all the comments, and I like the mood, but the only thing that distracts me is the height of the power lines is too low. I think if youraise them about a third, the whole scene would open up in the vertical. I hope to one day make animations as good as this!

nice movie....!

the only thing i don't like is how fast this train is getting off !
this steam-trains need very long until they can drive as fast as the train drives in your animation...anyway...nice short movie.
keep it up ! user added image

Thanks Fubar - yes I caught that too after rendering - the idea was that the train was to be passing through the station and not just standing there - camera setting hiccup user added image

I want to change the setting of the train station to be a mixture between a futuristic city and an old western station.

Thanks for pointing that out.

Wow I really love your scene. the modelling on the train and everything else is superb. I have a question on how you did the fog, though? I seem to remember a tutorial on that somewhere. I'll have to go looking for it again. Anyways... great job on the scene. Hope you got a good grade user added image

hi owmyi,

thanks.

I used an environmental fog for my scene,

yes I did get an A+ thanks to the kind artists on this forum.

I am currently reworking my train for a new scene. It's going to look somewhat different.
