Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Looking good user added image

I like the graffiti on the wall.

One thing that sticks out to me is the walls "grime". I think you should have some grime build up on the very bottom of the walls where they meet the street. Same for other corners like that. Also to have some streaky stuff from the top of the walls from the roof. Stuff like that. user added image

Keep it up!

Well , no grime this time but added awning and a wall poster - I can't seem to solve the problem of not having the torn out paper totally transparent I played with the color parameters of the transparency map and the color map but still you can see the rectangle of the full image.

if you're using depth map shadows, that's why. Only Ray Traced shadows will detect transparancy maps and compensate for them.

Mike

Actually I just checked and ALL lights are raytraced and not using Depth map shadows.

I also tried tweaking the color balance of the files but still...

Try unchecking "cast shadows" and see if it looks acceptable. If your'e using a material with specular attributes, that can cause those problems too. I have had some of that with my scenes.

Really cool scene by the way, very detailed and realistic. I love the grass poking through at the edge of the road. I'd change the road texture somewhat though, it looks a bit as though it's cracked but there is only this dark pattern, no depth to the cracks (try displacement perhaps?).

BTW I DID uncheck the cast shadows parameter - you were right - it was the shadow what I thought to be a not fully transparency

THanks

Night version updated - the poster on the wall is too dark so I connected a light to it only.
